Bio
I am a published author (The Water Here is Never Blue, my memoir of growing up overseas, was published by Penguin), a trained journalist (with a relevant BA and bylines in national and international journals), and a seasoned columnist (six years of arts, travel and lifestyle coverage). I work as an editor with academic presses, individuals, and corporations, and was the founding editor of two community newspapers.
Services Offered
I offer a full range of services from a basic read-through and two-page analysis to all levels of editing—substantive to copyedits and proofreading. I am especially adept at illuminating the strengths and weaknesses in a manuscript and in cleaning up convoluted language, making text flow with simple clarity. Coaching and mentoring, ghostwriting, guidance on how to source and obtain an appropriate publisher, insight into marketing, grant applications, and other sources of funding are also areas in which I can assist you.
Special Interests
My interests include book-length manuscripts and short and long-form nonfiction of all types – creative and literary, first-person narrative, academic, corporate, reportage, and editorials—ranging in subject matter from memoir, the arts, and travel to business, religious history, political and human rights issues. I enjoy working with writers at all stages but particularly with emerging writers or those exploring new genres, approaches, or subjects.
