Bio

I’m a friendly, professionally trained editor who helps creative writers polish their manuscripts before querying literary agents or self-publishing. I bring a deep love of story, multi-genre fluency, unapologetic word nerdery, and a problem-solving mindset to your manuscript.

Since founding Cellar Door Editorial in 2019, I have edited over fifty works of children’s and young adult literature, including novels, chapter books, picture books, graphic novels, and short stories. Publisher clients have included Scholastic Canada, Owlkids Books, FriesenPress, and Episode Interactive.

I trained in Toronto Metropolitan University’s Publishing Program, where I was three times nominated for the Robert Weaver Award for Excellence in Editing. Editors Canada describes me as “a brilliant editor” with “a remarkably astute editorial eye.”

Before coming to my greatest passion—stories!—I taught English to kids and teens.

Services Offered

Manuscript Evaluations and Developmental Editing: I provide actionable feedback to strengthen your plot structure, pacing, point of view, character arcs, and other areas in need of TLC.

Line and Copy Editing: I clean up mechanical errors, inconsistencies, confusing passages, and other hindrances, freeing your future readers to enjoy the story without distraction.

Proofreading: I scout out sneaky typos before you send your typeset draft to the printer’s or hit Publish.

Query Editing: In a critique of your query letter, synopsis, opening pages, and/or book proposal, I help you position your work on the market and craft a persuasive, submission-ready pitch.

Special Interests

Middle-grade fiction (ages 8-12), YA fiction, picture books (fiction & nonfiction), graphic novels for kids & teens.

My favourite stories balance strong character development with a driving plot. I have a soft spot for coming-of-age tales, quirky humour, and all things speculative: magic realism, paranormal, high fantasy, science fiction… Bring on your weird, wacky, and wondrous!
