Brief Bio
I am an educator, translator, author, and freelance editor. I have loved the written word for as long as I can remember. Since 2004, I have published over 500 fiction and nonfiction stories and articles in a wide variety of Canadian and American magazines, websites, and anthologies. I have co-authored and edited a horseback riding book for children and co-authored a horror-themed collection of short stories and poems. I have authored several novels, although due to the publishers closing, only one (The Mud Man, Manta Press) is currently available. I have edited hundreds of short stories and dozens of novels, some of which have become best sellers and award winners in their categories.
Services Offered
Line/copy editing, proofreading. I love working with new authors and authors hoping to self-publish. My rates are reasonable, and I offer a free sample edit to authors so that we can see if we are a good match.
Testimonials
When Donna was contacted by Wildblue Press to edit my manuscript, the writing was tight and had already been revised by a competent professional. Nevertheless, Donna ferreted out overlooked phrases, here and there, that benefited from her suggestions for improvement, even resulting in my changing up the last sentence of the book. I found communication with Donna to be timely, clear, helpful, and always given in a positive tone.
—Leslie Ghiglieri, author of The Decision to Kill: a True Crime Story of a Teenage Killer and the Mother Who Loved Him
A consummate professional, Donna exceeds my expectations every time, and will always be my go-to. She has never been late with returning my manuscripts and misses nothing. I highly recommend her!”
—James Pyne, author of the Big Cranky series (Mothman Publishing)
Donna Marie has contributed many excellent articles over the years (to Horsepower and Horse-Canada magazines) on a variety of equine subjects. My experience has been that she is a professional, well-rounded, thorough writer who researches her stories well and adheres to deadlines. Working with her has always been a pleasure! ”
