Bio

In short, Carolyne is a storyteller. And she can tell your story in many different ways—through a journalistic or academic article, a speech, website copy, marketing collateral or a communications plan. She can also do it the old-fashioned way: through a short story or a poem. Her special interests are writing communities, magazine and book publishing—and writing about people and their particular histories.

Carolyne has worked in corporate communications and public relations for most of her career. In parallel, she has been a journalist, a university lecturer, an independent scholar and a poet and short story writer. Her journalistic and creative work has been published in more than 100 different magazines and journals internationally. Carolyne’s corporate experience includes working in the aerospace, automotive, construction, healthcare and simulation fields. She taught in McGill University’s PR and Marketing Communications program for a decade. She has four published books, Motherlode: A Mosaic of Dutch Wartime Experience (Wilfrid Laurier University Press, 2014); Journeywoman (Inanna, 2017); Heart of Goodness: The Life of Marguerite Bourgeoys in 30 Poems | Du cœur à l’âme : La vie de Marguerite Bourgeoys en 30 poèmes (Guernica Editions, 2020); and Sensorial (Inanna, 2022).

Carolyne has undergraduate and graduate degrees in English Literature from University of Ottawa and Concordia University, along with a Graduate Certificate in Creative Writing from the Humber School for Writers.

Services Offered

Carolyne specializes in content development and creation—and something she likes to call “story management.” What this means is managing your story from start to finish: development, creation and any project management around it. She also has a great deal of experience in speechwriting; academic writing; media relations; and editing and deep revision. And after many years as a magazine journalist, she can write your articles for mainstream and trade media. In addition, Carolyne has undertaken a number of ghostwriting projects and is always looking for more. Coaching for writers is also on her offer.

Special Interests

Carolyne has a strong interest in literary subjects and projects, due to her background as a poet. And she has a special interest in the equine. Horsey projects don’t come up often but she’s your person if they do!
