Memoir, personal and lyric essay, feature writing, and literary journalism (short pieces and book-length manuscripts.)
I am a writer and editor based in Montreal. I am known for my work as founding editor, editor-in-chief, and creative nonfiction editor of the literary magazine carte blanche. I also worked for 10 years on literary projects for CBC Radio, including as an editor for Canada Writes. I am currently an editor for Medscape Medical News, where I edit daily news stories on a variety of complex subjects.
I am also the producer of the true storytelling series This Really Happened, and have taught workshops in editing, personal essay, and storytelling. My nonfiction work has appeared in the Montreal Gazette, the Globe & Mail, The National Post, SNReview, Fourth Genre, and other publications.
I offer a range of editorial services, from substantive and line editing to idea development, manuscript critiques, and reading suggestions.
