My passion is teaching people to communicate more effectively. Specific areas of content expertise include academic writing, grant writing, technical reports, marketing materials, business correspondence (cover letters, resumes, technical reports, etc.), as well as presentation scripts and accompanying visual aids.
I have a doctorate in education from McGill University and an M.B.A. from the University of New Hampshire. My experience ranges from writing theses, academic articles and books to developing strategic plans and creating marketing materials. For the last 9 years, I have been helping students and working professionals hone their writing and presentation skills by teaching classes, leading seminars and designing professional workshops as well as doing freelance contract work as an editor. I was awarded a Distinguished Teaching Award from McGill in 2015.
I offer a range of writing and editing services. My focus is not only on improving texts but also on improving writers as I coach them through my editing process. Services include:
editing: structural, stylistic and copyediting;
preparing visuals, scripting text and coaching delivery for effective presentations.
I work on either an hourly rate or a project fee. While I prefer to incorporate at least some in-person feedback, I also work extensively through electronic means providing feedback by written comments, tracked changes, recorded audio commentary and Skype sessions.
